According to the Daily Record, Aberdeen are closing in on a loan deal for Matty Longstaff.
Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce confirmed earlier in the week that the midfielder would be allowed to leave temporarily.
And despite links with Championship clubs, it looks like Longstaff is heading to the Scottish Premiership.
Various outlets are now reporting this, so it looks like the deal is on.

Longstaff is yet to feature this season for Newcastle, only making the bench once. Sadly, he was an unused substitute in the cup against Burnley, but this might have been with an eye towards him leaving.
With first-team football limited, it’s clear that Longstaff needs to leave on loan.
He clearly has potential, but needs more minutes under his belt. Sadly, Bruce doesn’t appear willing to give him a chance at St James’ Park.
The 21-year-old seems set to join Aberdeen – a move which is dividing Toon fans.
Some believe he should be joining a Championship club, questioning the standard north of the border.

However, others believe it will be a decent move for Longstaff.
The Scottish Premiership gets a bad reputation, with only Celtic and Rangers succeeding. But a move to Aberdeen could and should be good news for Longstaff.
He’ll get first-team football in a competitive league, playing in a team that will be near the top of the table.
And as one fan points out, a loan move to Aberdeen hardly hindered Leicester ace James Maddison.
But as always with Newcastle right now, some fans aren’t happy with the decision being made.

Others think Aberdeen is a bad move
