Newcastle United played out a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace yesterday in Graeme Jones’ first game as interim manager.
The sacking of Steve Bruce was not enough to get the Magpies their first win of the 2021/22 season.

Palace took the lead through Christian Benteke.
The Belgian striker headed in from a Tyrick Mitchell cross, which was his second goal of the season.
Newcastle fans will have feared another defeat, but striker Callum Wilson popped up with what will undoubtedly be a goal of the month contender.
The Magpies had a corner and the ball popped up into the air off Sean Longstaff’s head.

Wilson instinctively and acrobatically hooked his effort into the top corner, leaving Martin Keown wowed on Match of the Day.
The ex-Arsenal man said: “Wonderful, Gary, wasn’t it?
“A sucker punch again for Palace, but the execution of this… this is the sort of ruthless finish that, obviously, Patrick Vieira wants.
“Four goals now from the last five games, they’re really relying upon him if they’re going to get out of trouble. They need quality like that and he’s definitely got it.”
Wilson shows his importance once more
Wilson took his goal absolutely brilliantly.
It was the mark of a top-quality Premier League striker.

It has been said plenty of times before, but Newcastle desperately need the £70,000-a-week man (The Athletic) to stay fit.
Newcastle will no doubt bring players in in January, but keeping Wilson fit and available will be absolutely crucial in Newcastle’s survival bid.
