Javier Manquillo is hoping that the new Newcastle United owners can bring two of the world’s best talents in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to St James’ Park.

The Spanish full-back may be getting a tad ahead of himself considering the Magpies remain winless in the Premier League this season, and the main priority should be fixing a leaky defence that Danny Murphy labelled as ‘Championship’ worthy.

But the end of the Mike Ashley tenure and the dawning of a new era has brought hope and dreams back to Tyneside.

But as Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have witnessed, lucrative takeovers from some of the world’s richest people brings envy from the rest of the footballing world.

But joining PSG and City as being one of the most “hated” clubs throughout football isn’t something which fazes full-back Manquillo.

Speaking to the Telegraph, he said: “I understand that this operation will arouse antipathy or hatred. But we are not going to stop enjoying this period because of this.”

Sunday’s 3-2 defeat against Tottenham meant we stayed in the relegation zone and winless in eight games as well as conceding the most goals in the Premier League.

With speculation mounting regarding Steve Bruce’s future, Manquillo has admitted it’s hard not getting caught up with the rumours, but the team and manager needed to stay focused.

Manquillo added: “We are all professionals, Steve the first. He knows that the situation is not easy and even more so now that there is talk of his dismissal, but we are not getting carried away by the rumours.

“He’s working normally, he wants to start to get back on track and we’ll see what happens in the end.

“I have read that there is talk of Gerrard and Lampard, but our manager now is Steve Bruce and we support him without hesitation.”

Despite the struggles in the Premier League, Newcastle are the richest club in the world which has resulted in practically every world class footballer being linked with a move to Tyneside.

When asked who he would bring to St James’ Park, Manquillo didn’t hold back, he went for two players who are going to be challenging for the Ballon d’Or for years to come in Mbappe, who won the 2018 World Cup with France, and Haaland.

Manquillo added: “If you ask me who I’d sign for Newcastle, I’d go for [Kylian] Mbappe and I’d go for [Erling] Haaland. If it was a PlayStation team I’d also go for Messi and Cristiano, but the youngsters who stand out the most right now are those two.”

It seems that Manquillo has been caught up with takeover fever, but we can dream right, what a formidable pairing Mbappe and Haaland in the black and white would be.

But first let’s sort out the manager situation and focus staying in the top-flight.
