Newcastle United appear to have picked up a bargain this summer acquiring Yankuba Minteh who is now on loan at Eredivisie champions Feyenoord.
Yankuba Minteh was snapped up by Newcastle ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window and managed to arrange an immediate loan to Dutch champions Feyenoord for when the window opened.
After the farce of Garang Kuol‘s loan move to Hearts last year, everyone had their fingers crossed that Minteh’s move would be more productive.
Minteh is already looking special this season for Feyenoord
While it’s still early in the season it’s safe to say that Minteh’s time at Feyenoord is already a roaring success.
The Gambian forward has three goals and one assist in six Eredivisie appearances already this season and manager Arne Slot has been blown away by the 19-year-old’s pace.

Speaking to Dutch website Fr12, Slot has praised Minteh for his tenacity as well as his running stats, saying: ”There he is occasionally late to Jorrel Hato. But then he starts a sprint of seventy meters to catch up with Borna Sosa. When we see his statistics, it is really impressive. Minteh runs more sprint meters against Ajax in an hour than many other boys do in two games.”
Minteh could play his way into the Newcastle first team while on loan
”He is incredibly fast. And he wants it so badly. For the remainder against Ajax we substituted him for Ramiz Zerrouki. He immediately accepts that. “But then I tell two or three other boys to talk to him to make it clear that this is all part of it. And what was also nice was the fact that we were allowed to change immediately at the start in Arena.”

If Minteh continues to impress like this all season then there’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that there’ll be no loan move for him next year and Eddie Howe will be calling him into the first-team.
He already looks like a star, but under Eddie Howe’s training, the sky is the limit for him.
