A Newcastle United player is not going to win goal of the month for April.
Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall could share the manager of the month award, while Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes are up for player of the month.
However, the Premier League have not nominated a Newcastle United strike for their goal of the month award.
That is despite the Magpies scoring two incredible goals during April.
Newcastle United fans shocked as Sandro Tonali and Jacob Murphy are snubbed
The first was scored by Sandro Tonali, and the second was a Jacob Murphy strike.
Both goals were absolutely outrageous, with Tonali and Murphy scoring against Brentford and Crystal Palace respectively from the tightest of angles.
However, the Newcastle United duo have been snubbed, much to the surprise of the Toon Army. They have reacted to the news on X, with Newcastle fans in disbelief that Murphy or Tonali have not been nominated.
One supporter asked: “You left out the best two? Tonali and Murphy both better than all of these.”
“Not having Tonali vs Man U or Murphy against Palace here is a crime,” added a second Toon fan.
“Tonali and murphy robbed,” wrote a third Newcastle United supporter.
This member of the Toon Army added: “Madness that Tonali and Murphy’s didn’t make the cut.”
“No Jacob Murphy or Sandro Tonali, absolute joke,” posted a fifth Newcastle fan.
Finally, this fan expressed his shock by writing: “I can’t believe at least one of Tonali’s or Murphy’s didn’t make the cut – they both should have been in!”
What Sandro Tonali said about his goal against Brentford
It comes as a real surprise that neither Newcastle United goal has been nominated.
However, if either goal was going to be selected, it would have to be Murphy’s over Tonali’s.
That is because the Italy international admitted after Newcastle’s win over Brentford that he was actually trying to put a cross in rather than shoot.
Initially, Tonali said: ““Honestly, it was 70% cross and 30% shot. It was difficult for the goalkeeper and difficult also for me. Also a little bit of luck.”
The 24-year-old then revised his answer, with Tonali admitting it was 100% a cross.
But that was not the case with Murphy’s goal. He absolutely was shooting, despite his position on the pitch suggesting he should cross it.
It was an incredible effort, as Murphy bagged his ninth goal of the season. He has got 22 goal contributions in total this season, as he continues to defy belief on the right of attack.
But while Murphy is a contender to win the Premier League player of the month award, goal of the month will not be coming his way.
