Lewis Hall’s remarkable season for Newcastle United might NOT end with a place in England’s World Cup squad.

Hall has enjoyed a brilliant season for Newcastle United, establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.

For one final time this season, let’s hear your predictions for Sunday 👇

Yet, Hall has often remained a fringe player for England and it seems as if his remarkable form at club level has been overlooked by Thomas Tuchel.

Hall set to miss out on the England squad

Despite a lack of convincing options at left-back, leading reporter Ben Jacobs has revealed that Hall is not expected to be named in England’s World Cup squad.

Let us know how you would feel if you NEVER saw Anthony Gordon play for Newcastle again 👇

That has to be seen as a shock at this stage. While not to suggest that Hall was a guaranteed starter, he had surely done enough to suggest he could at least be part of the squad.

Alex Crook of talkSPORT added that he was shocked at the decision on social media platform X

He wrote: “Turns out there is no place for Lewis Hall. I am shocked at that one.”

Dan Burn set to be included in England squad

There is better news for Dan Burn, however.

Both Jacobs and Crook report that the defender is set to be included in the squad for this summer’s tournament.

Burn was handed his international debut by Tuchel last year only days after winning the Carabao Cup with Newcastle and has often featured in his squads despite not playing regularly.

Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon set to be included

Craig Hope of national outlet The Daily Mail has claimed that Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon will be named in the squad, which will be confirmed at 11am BST on Friday, 22 May, 2026.

Harvey Barnes is also set to miss out.

There have not been many mentions of Aaron Ramsdale but it is perhaps safe to assume – at this stage at least – that he will not feature in the World Cup.

England’s first game comes against Croatia in Dallas on Wednesday, 17 June, 2026.
