Two names have been linked with potentially becoming Newcastle United manager; Jurgen Klinsmann and Gennaro Gattuso.
With Rafa Benitez’s future still up in the air, names are beginning to be branded about as potential replacements. Until a deal is agreed or Benitez leaves the club, expect more and more to be linked.
The Klinsmann links come from France Football, who claim that the Magpies could look to bring the German in if Benitez leaves. They also believe Everton are an option should Marco Silva get the sack.

For starters, Klinsmann has limited experience in club management. He has had three jobs since retiring as a player, two of which were on the international stage. He became Bayern Munich manager in July 2008, but by April the following year he was sacked.
Links with Gattuso are equally as odd. The former Italy midfielder is currently at AC Milan, with the San Siro side struggling to secure a top four finish in Serie A.

Gattuso has had a weird career in management, starting in Switzerland with FC Sion. His management debut in Italy only lasted a few months, losing his job at Palermo after a terrible start to the season in 2013. He has also managed Greek side OFI Crete.

Klinsmann or Gattuso? Neither please
Does either name linked inspire you with any sort of confidence?
The names that have been linked with the Newcastle job show just how important it is that Mike Ashley signs Benitez up to a new long-term deal.

The longer this saga goes on, the more obscure and uninspiring names are going to be linked with the job.
This is going to be a rough couple of weeks for Newcastle supporters, and right now it’s hard to see a happy ending.
