Newcastle United captain Kieran Trippier spoke to the media ahead of England’s game against Malta tonight and spoke about Jude Bellingham’s move to Real Madrid.

Having spent three years at Atletico Madrid, Kieran Trippier was a prime candidate to offer advice to England youngster Jude Bellingham who has just made the switch to Real Madrid for an eyewatering deal that could see his price rise to £115million.

Speaking to the media alongside Gareth Southgate, Trippier was asked if he’d spoken to Bellingham about life in Spain and the £13million Newcastle man said he told Bellingham to ’embrace it’.

“I had a couple of conversations with him today,” said Trippier.

“I just said to him go and embrace it. The lifestyle, the football, the league. It’ll be an amazing opportunity for him to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world at such a young age. My time there was great times. I managed to win a league title there, obviously not Real Madrid, on the other side.

“We’ve had loads of conversations, me and Jude I’m always there for him if he needs help with living etc, which he knows, so I couldn’t be prouder.”

Trippier is influential wherever he goes it seems

Trippier is like the mother hen. People just seem to gravitate towards him. He immediately become a key figure in Newcastle’s dressing room and it seems that he has the same influence on his England teammates.

Even Eberechi Eze singled him out in a recent interview saying that Trippier was the first to reach out to him in the England camp when he arrived.

I wonder if Trippier can use his influence to finally persuade James Maddison to join Newcastle while they’re in the England camp. That’s if Callum Wilson doesn’t kidnap him first following his Instagram reel with him grabbing Maddison in training with the caption “Newcastle is this way”.
