Newcastle United players, staff, owners and a select group of fans got a sneak peek at the upcoming Amazon Prime docuseries last night and Kieran Trippier spoke about his thoughts on the series.
Next Friday, 11th August will see the first episode of We Are Newcastle United, Prime Video‘s four-part docuseries taking us behind the scenes of the last season at St James’ Park.
The series is set to focus on the running of Newcastle United more than the actual footballing exploits, but from the trailer and clip posted on social media by Prime Video Sports, it looks like there will be plenty of footage from Eddie Howe and the players too.
Trippier says the Newcastle docuseries is something the fans deserve
Speaking at the event last night, Kieran Trippier spoke about having the cameras around last season and in the clip uploaded by Football Daily, he joked that Callum Wilson was loving it and would be happy if the whole thing was about him.
He then went on to say that he feels the documentary is something fans deserve, saying: “I think it’s important. I think the fans certainly deserve to see what goes on behind the scenes and to see how hard the players work in training and I think the character as well, hopefully it shows a lot of character about individuals in our team.”
The selected fans who got to attend the star-studded event got to see the first two episodes and while they haven’t been able to share much about what they saw due to non-disclosure agreements, the overall consensus is that it’s going to be a brilliant watch for fans.
Many fans have already been taken aback by the fact that the trailer has revealed that Eddie Howe actually swears. It just had that feel of meeting up with a teacher ten years after leaving school and hearing them drop an F-bomb for the first time.
Newcastle fans have so much to look forward to in the next week
The first episode coming out the day before the first game of the season is genius timing. It will get fans all the more pumped up for the game against Aston Villa on the Saturday and should carry through to help the atmosphere at St James’ Park.
Newcastle fans will undoubtedly want to see the hard work put in by the players and the staff but at the same time it’s going to be special seeing the lads in their natural environment going about their daily lives. Seeing that famous team spirit in the dressing room.
