Kieran Trippier has heaped praise on Jonjo Shelvey, and said that Danny Rose told him about the playmaker ahead of his move to Newcastle United.
Shelvey has enjoyed a serious upturn in form since the arrival of Eddie Howe as manager.

The maestro has now started the last eight Premier League games, and worn the captain’s armband in each of the last three.
The star has become a pivotal player for the Magpies, operating as the deep-lying midfielder with Joe Willock and Joelinton working as a pair of eights just ahead of him.
It’s been really good to see Shelvey finally start to thrive in a Newcastle shirt again.
Undoubtedly, he lost his way for a while under Steve Bruce.
Shelvey’s on-the-ball talent has never been in any doubt and Trippier has revealed that he was a player Danny Rose was telling him about ahead of his January move to the club.

Rose, of course, spent the second-half of the 2019/20 season.
Speaking on the True Geordie podcast, Trippier said (25.30): “What a player. I can’t really comment on his journey from where he was to the place he’s in now. But all I can say is, players always try to do their best, that’s a given. But Jonjo’s had a good career, a very good career.
“I love playing with him. I spoke to players who have played with him. Danny Rose was telling me about him as well. I can see what all the hype was about years ago when he was coming through at Liverpool. Even now, he’s so clam with the ball, you can see. I think he’s a top, top player me.”
Jonjo Shelvey can still have big role to play for Newcastle next season
So it seems Shelvey has made a serious impression on Trippier.
He is a quality player, it’s just about him doing all sides of the game now and playing with consistency.
We have been seeing since Howe came in just how good he can be.

Hopefully he can continue performing at this high level for as long as possible.
Newcastle will splash the cash in the summer. But there is no reason why Shelvey can’t still have a big role to play for the club next season.
