Part of the reason Newcastle United are in the Champions League is down to the signings made under Eddie Howe’s watch.

Such are the funds PIF have to play with, Newcastle could well have signed a number of other players since the takeover.

However, the signings Howe has overseen have played a major role in getting to the Champions League, as well as helping the club impress on that stage once they’re there.

Indeed, the club’s decision not to attempt to sign the superstar names many had tipped them to upon the initial takeover has been continually vindicated.

In fact, even now his team are back on the grandest stage, Howe isn’t believed to want to change his policy.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones shared that Howe is not prepared to tinker with the formula too much, even if big results such as thrashing Paris Saint-Germain make Newcastle a more attractive destination than before.

“Nights like that are definitely going to help them sign massive players in the future, but it’s kind of Eddie Howe’s worst nightmare because he doesn’t want any superstars coming in just yet,” he said.

“Mbappe, playing in a game like that, would have been getting an understanding and a realisation of what Newcastle were actually building. If you think back to when Mbappe, for example, was being linked with Newcastle when they were first taken over, I’m sure it was all very much dismissed by him and he barely gave it a second thought.

“But, suddenly, you’re at St James’ Park getting absolutely smashed by them, you’re hearing the atmosphere and seeing what they might be building.”

Why change a winning formula?

As Newcastle continue to challenge for major honours, a higher calibre of player will surely be sought. That, after all, is what keeps teams competitive year after year.

Still, there is little sense in changing what Newcastle are doing at the moment. By and large, every single signing has pretty much worked out.

Superstars may want to join but they have to fit in with the collective. That is what has taken this team so far in such a short amount of time.

Newcastle have little need to change their approach.
