Newcastle United’s search for a new manager is seemingly over, with Eddie Howe to be confirmed by the club tomorrow.

Yesterday, Howe was at the Amex Stadium to cast his eye over the Magpies, ahead of taking over as the new head coach.

He sat with Amanda Staveley to watch the game, which finished all square at 1-1.

It will have been a fascinating watch for him.

Newcastle were awful in the first-half, and were seemingly set for another heavy defeat.

But the players did show good character to get back into the game which will have pleased Howe.

Fans have assumed the deal is close to completion given he was present for yesterday’s match.

Well, it seems the announcement really isn’t far away now.

According to journalist Craig Hope, the club will officially announce Howe as the new manager at some point tomorrow.

That means 19 days will have passed since Steve Bruce was relieved of his duties.

Since then, there has been so much speculation, and at one point it looked as though Unai Emery was going to be Bruce’s successor.

The Spaniard shunned Newcastle’s interest, leaving Howe in the clear.

It has been a frustrating period, especially with the team struggling on the pitch.

Some have been critical of the new owners, but it is a very big decision for them to make.

The Emery situation was an error on their part, but it at least hasn’t taken too much longer after his rejection.

Hopefully, Howe can now have a good international break with his new players. Things need to change, and quickly.
