Newcastle United legend Jonas Gutierrez hopes that the glory years are coming to Tyneside, and believes the energy around the club will be totally different now following the successful takeover.
Gutierrez scored the goal against West Ham United which saved Newcastle from relegation in 2014/15 after recovering from cancer before being let go via a mobile phone call in the same summer (Sky Sports).
The Argentine described that moment when he scored the goal against the Hammers at St James’ Park as the “best” in his career.

Reflecting on the end of Mike Ashley’s 14-year tenure and the start of a new prosperous chapter in Newcastle’s iconic history, Gutierrez said that he was delighted that the club now have new owners, PIF.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I’m really happy like the rest of the Newcastle fans because it was necessary to have a change and the hope is glory years are coming to Newcastle.
“The energy is going to be totally different now and hopefully we are now always part of the teams that fight to be in the top five.”

The Magpies’ former winger said he couldn’t wait to get back to St James’ Park because it would be “special” to return.
The man who was capped 22 times for Argentina wants his old club to take things steady under the new owners, and hopes that there is not a massive immediate upheaval in players in and out.
Jonas added: “I don’t think it’s good to bring 20 players in, in one season. I think you need to build the project and the team year by year.”

Gutierrez is still playing football, at the age of 38, for Alamgro in his native Argentina.
He made 205 appearances across all competitions for Newcastle, and it is clear the club still holds a special place in his heart and the fans absolutely adore everything he did for the club.
