Joelinton continues to go from strength to strength under Eddie Howe at Newcastle and he’s now said he’s improved one big part of his game thanks to the new additions at the training ground.

As the big Brazilian was set to pick up his Player Of The Season award form the Newcastle United Disabled Supporters Association, Emil Franchi sat down for an interview with Joelinton for NUFC TV looking back on some of the big moments from last season.

One moment that was selected from Newcastle‘s excellent season was Joelinton’s power header against Leicester in December, getting on the end of a brilliant Kieran Trippier corner.

Joelinton has added heading to his list of skills

Joelinton was asked if it’s easier to score that type of goal with Trippier’s deliveries, Joelinton said: “His delivery is amazing as everyone knows. I was just in the right place at the right time with a good header. Teqball at the training ground has helped me a lot.

“I don’t have many goals with my head I think I can score more with my size. I train every day but I think what’s improved me getting better with the headers is the Teqball, it’s helped me a lot.”

For those who are unfamiliar as to what Teqball is, imagine an arched table-tennis table that players use to play ping-pong with footballs using their feet and head instead of a paddle.

Bruno and J7 dominate at Teqball

It’s almost a stereotype to expect Brazilians to be good at that kind of game. But, naturally, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton dominate at the game, but it shows that it’s more than just a way for the squad to keep a healthy competition in the camp.

As Joelinton says, he’s a big dude so the fact he’s not known for his heading prowess is a strange one, but it looks like that could soon be a thing of the past with the players Newcastle now have who can supply excellent deliveries.

As long as Joelinton keeps practicing on the Teqball table and Foot Volley court we can expect to see more of the big man rising like a salmon to power home.
