Joelinton is enjoying another sensational season in a Newcastle United shirt, and he believes that one teammate has made him a better player.
Unsurprisingly, it is Joelinton‘s fellow countryman Bruno Guimaraes. The Brazilians are quite the dynamic duo for Newcastle, both playing a huge role in the club’s surge up the Premier League table.
Their performances could result in Newcastle playing in the Champions League – a competition they have both played in before.
Now they could soon be doing it together, and Joelinton has explained what it is like to work alongside the 25-year-old who has established himself as a Toon talisman ever since his arrival last year.
Joelinton raves about ‘amazing’ Bruno Guimaraes
Ahead of the game against Everton, both Joelinton and Bruno have spoke to beIN Sport. The former was asked to explain just how good the latter is.
“He’s amazing,” he said.
“He’s a lovely guy away from the pitch. On the pitch he is great. Everyone has seen his quality, what he brings to the team since he arrived.
“He elevates every player, so it is nice to have him here. I hope he continues to improve us. He’s so good.”
It is clear that Bruno makes players around him better
It is really nice to see Joelinton compliment Bruno as a person and highlight how nice he is away from the pitch. That is an important element of this Newcastle squad – Eddie Howe wants good people, as well as good footballers.
The Magpies have struck gold on Bruno, as he is exceptional in both departments.
As Joelinton says, we have all seen just how good Bruno is. It did not take fans long to realise that we were suddenly in the presence of a special footballer.
But Bruno has no ego about him. He is a team player, and makes those around him better. Joelinton has benefitted from that massively, striking up a brilliant partnership with his fellow Brazilian.
Obviously Joelinton’s birth as a midfielder started before Bruno arrived, but the former Lyon star has definitely made the transition much easier.
However, J7 isn’t the only player Bruno has helped improve. Miguel Almiron’s exceptional season would not have happened had it not been for the partnership with Newcastle’s number 39.
Newcastle are lucky to have Bruno, and Joelinton knows it.
