We are now just a few hours away from the new Premier League season kicking off.

Newcastle United are soon back in competitive action, with Aston Villa up first in what looks a difficult start to the season.

Still, while that is hardly an ideal opening game, there is every reason to be confident.

Such was the success of Eddie Howe’s team last season, particularly at St James’ Park, opposition teams will not relish the journey up to Tyneside.

It’s going to be fantastic to see the stars who took the club so far last season back in action and it seems Joe Willock cannot wait.

Joe Willock cannot wait to see Alexander Isak back in action

Indeed, while the midfielder is currently suffering with an injury, Willock is just as excited as the rest of us to see Alexander Isak back strutting his stuff.

Commenting on the Sweden international’s Instagram post looking ahead to the new season, Willock wrote: “Can’t wait to see your long legs slot that ball in the back of the net again this season , that’s going to put a smile on my face.”

A big season for Isak

Having scored ten goals in his first season as a Premier League player, Isak has raised expectations.

Considering that a fair portion of that campaign was disrupted by injury, it seems fair to expect the 23-year-old to outdo himself this time around.

With Harvey Barnes and a rejuvenated Anthony Gordon in the squad providing service, there is little reason why Newcastle fans cannot expect more from the club-record signing.

Willock has even previously compared Isak to a certain Thierry Henry. That is the level at which he’s seen after such a promising maiden voyage in Premier League waters.

It’s going to be a big, big season for Isak.
