Newcastle United have made a fantastic start in the Champions League.
While the performance away at AC Milan was one of discipline as Newcastle returned to the Champions League for the first time in over twenty years, the drubbing of Paris Saint-Germain showed just how dangerous Eddie Howe’s side can be.
For many of his players, it is the first time they will have strutted their stuff on Europe’s biggest stage. Still, that mattered not when the likes of Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn and Sean Longstaff scored against the expensively-assembled French champions.

Newcastle have dangerous attacking weapons in their squad and one of those is undoubtedly £20m star Callum Wilson.
Now, the forward has been backed by Joe Cole.
Newcastle news: Joe Cole says Callum Wilson could do something ‘extraordinary’ this season
Indeed, the former Chelsea and England winger was discussing England’s options behind Harry Kane ahead of Euro 2024.
Wilson obviously occupied that role at the World Cup but a recent injury meant that he could not play a part during this international break, allowing Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins a chance.
He then scored as the Three Lions beat Australia and, speaking on Channel 4 on Friday night, Cole was seriously impressed by what Gareth Southgate has in his squad.
“Him, Callum Wilson, Ivan Toney, those three are jostling behind the number one in Harry Kane. Maybe Gareth Southgate will take two of them,” he said.
“There is a long time to go. Toney has to come back, Wilson has the Champions League and could do something extraordinary. We have such competition for places.”

Callum Wilson’s real Champions League journey could start against Borussia Dortmund
While Wilson came on in Milan, Alexander Isak has been the starting option for Newcastle in the Champions League thus far.
Still, with Isak injured – albeit it remains unclear as to how injured – perhaps Wilson will be in with a shout to feature against Borussia Dortmund after the international break.
If he’s going to do something extraordinary, that would be a good place to start.
