Newcastle United have beaten Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor to increase the gap over Fulham to six points.
The Magpies came from behind to topple Sean Dyche’s side in Lancashire for an absolutely massive result.
Matej Vydra gave the Clarets the lead in the first-half, but Jacob Murphy and Allan Saint-Maximin scored in the second 45 for the visitors.
The Frenchman came off the bench along with Callum Wilson, and the winger completely tipped the game on its head.
His game-winning goal was absolutely superb, and the mark of someone who has the quality to help pull a club away from danger.
Praise has been plentiful for the team on social media following the result.
Ex-Magpies midfielder Jermaine Jenas was impressed, tweeting: “Massive result @NUFC well done Steve Bruce and the players for digging in and getting that one won!”
Let’s not go overboard
Plenty will be opposed to any kind of praise Steve Bruce, but he does warrant a little bit of credit for today.
Realistically though, putting two players of the quality of Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson was the obvious call and you would expect some kind of impact.
Bruce still isn’t the right man long-term. That said, nobody should be criticising after such an excellent result.
