Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben has issued a message of support to Kieran Trippier following the Magpies’ Carabao Cup exit on Tuesday night.
Eddie Howe’s side were beaten by Chelsea on penalties, having been moments away from winning the game in normal time.
Mykhailo Mudryk scored a late equaliser to cancel out Callum Wilson’s opener, capitalising on a mistake from Kieran Trippier to take the game to penalties.
Newcastle won the toss and elected to take them in front of the travelling Toon Army, but it did not make any difference. The Magpies were beaten 4-2, with Trippier and Matt Ritchie missing.
It was an agonising way to be knocked out, having been so close to victory and another Carabao Cup semi final. It was even more agonising for Trippier, whose two errors cost the club at the worst possible time.
The 33-year-old is enduring a tough run of form after errors against Everton and a difficult trip to Tottenham. He came on at half time against Chelsea on Tuesday night, and it was his two misdemeanours that have resulted in Newcastle being knocked out of the competition.
Trippier is in a difficult moment, and he has received a message of support from Toon co-owner Jamie Reuben on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Jamie Reuben thanks Newcastle fans for their support after Carabao Cup exit
Following the penalty shootout loss in the Carabao Cup to Chelsea, Jamie Reuben took to X to deliver his instant reaction.
He wrote: “It’s always disappointing when you come this close but we will regroup and go again – thank you for your support for @nufc tonight and for our main man Trippier.”
Newcastle fans must get behind Trippier
Reuben has thanked fans for their support, and that is exactly what Trippier needs in this moment.
Sure, there was anger and sadness at what he did in the moment. But now that the dust has settled, we must get behind the £12million man.
He has rallied around Newcastle players when they have gone through tough moments, and now we must do the same for him.
He has been below par during the past couple of weeks, and we must get behind him to help him get out of this rut.
The impact he has had at St James’ Park is seismic. His recent errors do not change that. He is still the most important signing the owners have ever made, and he has still been playing at an elite level until this recent dip in form.
