Newcastle United are seemingly heading for a relegation battle this season.
The Magpies have hit some awful form recently, and last night’s defeat to Arsenal means they now haven’t won a game in any competition in nine attempts.

Performances have been highly disappointing, and fans are extremely concerned about the fate of the club if Steve Bruce remains in charge.
The team have now started to ship goals as well as struggle to score them, and that is potential recipe for disaster.
Many fans thing a relegation fight is inevitable, as does Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher.

But the former Liverpool defender is backing the Magpies to survive.
He said on MNF, as quoted by the Chronicle: “I said before that it’s not a great group of players, it’s certainly not the worst three – this group of players shouldn’t go down when I look at what else is in the Premier League, but you’d expect them to be where they are.
“You could argue slightly higher if everything was working perfectly as well, but I don’t expect them to go down, but like most seasons under Mike Ashley, they will have the fight of their lives.”
Relegation threat is real
There are worste sets of players on paper in the Premier League, but there is a very real possibility Newcastle could go down.

The fact that the team no longer looks particularly solid at the back is a major concern.
A solid defence gives provides the ideal foundation for points to be picked up.
If that solidity isn’t there, then outscoring the opponents will be the name of the game, and Newcastle have shown how toothless they are under Bruce.
