Jamie Carragher was asked if Newcastle United could finish in the top four after their impressive 5-1 over Aston Villa and during his answer picked out one player he absolutely loves.
The Sky Sports pundits were recently asked to give their predictions for who will finish in the top four this season and Newcastle‘s name was shockingly absent from all predictions.
Jamie Carragher had Newcastle finishing sixth, as did Karen Carney but Gary Neville didn’t feature the Magpies at all in his top six prediction.
Jamie Carragher loves watching Newcastle’s striker
Carragher still believes Newcastle will be there or thereabouts when it comes to the top four but isn’t fully convinced they’ll have what it takes given the extra pressure of European football.
However, when answering a question for a recent Q&A on YouTube about his prediction, Carragher did reveal which Newcastle player he has a strong affinity for: “[Alexander] Isak up front, I absolutely love him. Love him to bits.”

Isak has been outstanding since his club-record £63million move to Newcastle from Real Sociedad. Having missed a big chunk of the season through injury, Newcastle fans had to wait a while to see what he could really do after an impressive debut against Liverpool.
The Swedish international finished the season on 10 Premier League goals in just 22 outings and is already on two goals from one appearance this season.
Isak has drawn comparisons to Thierry Henry
It’s not just his goalscoring ability that has fans and pundits purring, his close control on the ball is something else. Nobody will forget that run he made down the left wing, turning the Everton defenders inside out for fun.

Isak has drawn comparisons to Thierry Henry and it’s telling that those comparisons haven’t been ridiculed – he’s as close to Henry as it gets in the modern game … and he’s ours!
I’m backing Isak to be in the mix for the Premier League Golden Boot this season if he stays fit and I back him to get better and better as the years go on.
