Newcastle United could have a big impact on the Premier League title race very soon.
That is according to Jamie Carragher, whose former side Liverpool are leading the Premier League after 11 games.
Arne Slot has enjoyed an incredible start to his Liverpool career, losing just once so far. His side have a five point lead at the top of the Premier League, while they are 10 points ahead of Newcastle United.
The Reds are yet to face Eddie Howe’s side this season, but that will soon change after the international break.
Newcastle United welcome Liverpool to St James’ Park on December 4th, and will go in search of their first win against the Merseyside club since December 2015.
Eddie Howe has not beaten Liverpool since becoming Newcastle United manager. In fact, he has lost every encounter.

Jamie Carragher makes early Newcastle vs Liverpool prediction
However, Jamie Carragher has suggested that Newcastle’s luck against Liverpool could change next month.
Carragher has been speaking about Liverpool’s lead at the top on the latest episode of the Stick To Football podcast, and has hinted that the Reds could drop points when they head to Tyneside.
“When we come back after the international break, Liverpool have got Southampton,” he said.
“Then they’ve got a week of Manchester City at home, Newcastle away and Everton away. That week, you could draw two and lose one of them. Before you know it, that five points is gone.”
Liverpool are the only big team that Eddie Howe has struggled against
That run of fixtures that Carragher has alluded to is very difficult, and could see Liverpool’s lead at the top decrease.
However, that might be dependent on Eddie Howe finding out how to finally get the better of them.
Newcastle have been exceptional against the ‘big six’ since Howe became manager. He has picked up emphatic victories against five out of the six, but is yet to find the recipe for success against Liverpool.

He will hope that changes very soon, and Newcastle will be full of confidence when they face Liverpool if they can carry on their good form after the international break.

The Magpies will also be boosted by the fact that the game is at home, and it is an evening game. St James’ Park underneath the lights is special, and it could give Eddie Howe his best chance of taking points from Liverpool.
And while that would dent their title charge, it would only strengthen Newcastle’s quest to qualify for the Champions League again.
