Newcastle United are under pressure during the final four games of the season.

While this has already been an historic campaign in the Newcastle United story, there are battles left to be won.

Eddie Howe’s side might have won the Carabao Cup but are looking to build on that by reaching the Champions League. Fourth in the Premier League as things stand, they are involved in a tight race and have some difficult games to come.

Pundit Jamie Carragher, however, believes Newcastle should be looking up the Premier League table rather than worrying than being caught by the teams behind.

Jamie Carragher’s brilliant Newcastle United prediction

Speaking on Sky Sports on Friday night after top-five rivals Manchester City had beaten Wolves, the former Liverpool and England defender made a prediction Newcastle fans will love to hear.

Indeed, he again suggested both Newcastle and City could still catch Arsenal in second.

Howe’s side sit five points behind the Gunners but do still have them to play in the penultimate game of the campaign. Newcastle have beaten Mikel Arteta’s side three times this season, while there’s still a chance Arsenal will have the Champions League to prepare for.

“I still think Newcastle and Manchester City can actually catch Arsenal,” he said.

“I do, just with the situation Arsenal have with the Champions League, they’ve got Bournemouth at home which won’t be easy. Then they go to Anfield, they’ve also got to play Newcastle as well.”

Sandro Tonali’s Champions League warning to Newcastle United

Whatever happens in the final few games, this has already been a season which will live long in the memory for Newcastle fans.

After 70 years of hurt, they finally ended their infamously long wait for a major domestic honour by beating Liverpool at Wembley.

Still, such is the lofty position in which they find themselves in the Premier League, not qualifying for the Champions League now would have to be seen as a major disappointment.

Key midfielder Sandro Tonali has warned Newcastle they simply have to qualify for the Champions League, having come this far in the race.

“With five teams in the Champions League for us it’s much better, it’s not easy but it’s better,” he said in March.

“We have probably one thing we need to do, be in the Champions League.”

Hopefully, Carragher is right….
