Newcastle United full-back Jamal Lewis has come in for praise from Magpies legend Alan Shearer following his performance against Everton.
The summer singing from Norwich City was full on energy against the Toffees at Goodison Park and was a real outlet for the visitors.

It was a great showing which has followed some criticism in recent weeks.
It has been a tough time for the team with many players being slammed on social media, and Lewis in particular has had a rough ride of late.
But he was much improved against Everton and appeared to grow in confidence as the game wore on, and it has he who supplied Callum Wilson to wrap the game up in injury time with a great goal on the counter.

Lewis’ performance was lapped up by Newcastle fans, and Shearer also moved to praise the Northern Ireland international.
Including him and Wilson in his latest Premier League Team of the Week, he said (official Premier League): “This was his best match in a black and white shirt.”
It is the first time the star has been recognised in an XI by the legend.
The performance Lewis needed
It’s been frustrating to watch Lewis struggle lately, and his performance against Everton was exactly what he’s needed.

Perhaps the pressure of his £15 million transfer fee (Sky Sports) has been getting to him, or just results have seen his confidence take a hit.
But hopefully now the 23-year-old can take huge confidence, especially from Shearer’s comment, and kick on.
