Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles isn’t worried about losing momentum following Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester United.
The Magpies now have a two week break after their second win of the season, with multiple players set to represent their country during the international break.

While a lot of players and fans will wish we had another game this weekend to capitalise on the feelgood factor after our first home win of the season, Lascelles believes the international break won’t hurt the team.
“We’ll enjoy this little international break and after that, we’ll start planning for another big game at Chelsea,” he told the club’s official website.
“I think momentum is a big thing in football but I think a little break won’t do us any harm and we can refresh but still knowing that we’ve just beaten Man U, and we’re still on a high from that, so hopefully we can go into the Chelsea game full of confidence.”

Will Newcastle have momentum at Chelsea?
The buzz was back at St James’ Park on Sunday. A win against a huge club in Manchester United with the only goal being scored by a local lad on his Premier League debut. If that doesn’t raise your spirits then nothing will.
It was a win that Newcastle and Steve Bruce desperately needed. After the hammering at Leicester, a lot had been said and written about this Newcastle team. But they proved a lot of doubters wrong on Sunday. Sure, it was a terrible Manchester United team, but a win is a win.

Next up is an in-form Chelsea side. While our tails might be up after Sunday’s win, the trip to Stamford Bridge could bring us crashing back down to earth.
We’ll have to wait until a week on Saturday to see if Newcastle still have the momentum they built up against Manchester United, or if that result was just a flash in the pan like the Tottenham win proved to be.
