Newcastle United lost for the third game running today, with Manchester City leaving St. James’ Park with all three points.
Pep Guardiola’s Premier League leaders ran out 4-0 winners. Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling were the scorers.

Few really expected Newcastle to get anything today.
City are bang in form and have a world-class team and manager.
Perhaps things might have been slightly different had the challenge on Ryan Fraser from Ederson resulted in a penalty.
For whatever reason it wasn’t given, with Alan Shearer summing up the Newcastle feeling on that on Twitter.
Isaac Hayden has given his verdict about the day’s events on social media, and appeared to reference the Ederson incident.
He said: “Big effort in these last two games to try and get positive results, we have to stick together more than ever to get out of this situation. Decisions against us, things not going our way, we appreciate your support, we will continue to do our utmost to turn it around.”
Also watching today’s game was former Magpie Christian Atsu, who left the club this summer.
The now Al-Raed player obviously knows many of the current crop well, and said after today’s result: “I’ve been with @NUFC Players for 5 years and I know the mentality that they have, keep calm and watch them overcome this situation.”
Newcastle have got to improve and show this ‘mentality’ Atsu speaks of
The Ederson decision was extremely frustrating. The club have undoubtedly been on the wrong end of a few questionable calls now.
But Newcastle simply have to be better.

The fixtures lately have been tough. But now Eddie Howe will soon have a much better chance of getting some points on the board.
It is Manchester United up next for Newcastle, but then there are no Big Six opponents until early March.
It is time for the players to back up their words.
