Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after Tim Sherwood shared his thoughts on the criticism Steve Bruce receives for his style of football.
The former Tottenham and Aston Villa manager was speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, and to sum up his comments, he said that Bruce deserves more credit for the job he’s doing at St James’ Park and that it’s not too dissimilar to how Rafa Benitez set the team up.
You can watch the short clip below, although if you’re of a similar opinion to most of the supporters who’ve reacted to his words, you might not want to.

In fairness to Sherwood, some of the things he mentions are spot on. It is Bruce’s job to keep the club in the Premier League, and while that might seem unambitious, he did that with ease last term and should do the same again. Two supporters below don’t see anything wrong with his opinion, so perhaps he did hit a few notes correctly.
However, the football under the ex-Sunderland boss isn’t fantastic, and the statistics reinforce that.
At the time of writing, WhoScored shows that Newcastle average the fifth-fewest shots per game in the Premier League this term with 8.8 per 90 minutes. The Magpies also only average 43.8% possession per game, which is again the fifth lowest in the division.
It’s not always fun to watch under Bruce, and while ambitions should be higher for a club of Newcastle’s stature, the style of play will probably keep Newcastle up.
Let’s see what the Toon Army on Twitter have been saying about Sherwood’s comments…

Honestly this is just straight up insulting and offensive to listen to.
I’m tired of being taken for a fool. Do these pundits and Bruce’s mates expect us to ignore what we see with our own eyes???
