Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has taken to social media, after he was rauled out for the final three games of the season through injury.

The 29-year-old will take no part against Manchester City, Sheffield United and Fulham having suffered a hamstring issue.

The ace picked up the injury in the closing stages of the 4-2 victory over Leicester City last week.

Thankfully for Newcastle, relegation is no longer a concern with West Bromwich Albion and Fulham’s latest defeats meaning they’ll join Sheffield United in the Championship next term.

It is yet more frustration for Wilson, with this latest setback his third of the season.

He’s been limited to just 28 appearances across all competitions.

It is something that could well force Newcastle to look at signing another striker this summer to provide adequate cover for the England international.

Wilson has this evening taken to social media to react following the news he won’t play again this term and had a word for the fans, some of whom will now not get to see him in action against Sheffield United – the club’s last home game of 2020/21.

He wrote: “Frustrating way to end my first season at @nufc having to miss the last 2 weeks through injury, especially with our first home game this season with fans coming up.

“I’ll be back stronger & hungrier with hopefully a full St James Park. I’m looking forward to meeting you all.”
