Newcastle United kick off their Carabao Cup campaign with a trip to Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle United will be looking to continue their impressive Carabao Cup form when they travel to the City Ground this evening.
Having reached the final in 2023 but ultimately falling to defeat against Manchester United, the Magpies once again went far in the competition last season, reaching the quarter-finals only to be defeated by Chelsea on penalties.
Eddie Howe and his side though will be looking to put that heartbreak behind them and go one better this time around.
Nottingham Forest meanwhile will be looking to improve on last year’s run having succumbed to a disappointing third-round defeat to Burnley last time out.
With that being said, here is everything you need to know ahead of the Carabao clash.

Newcastle v Nottingham Forest kick-off time
Newcastle’s clash with Nottingham Forest is due to kick off at 8pm BST on Wednesday 28 August at the City Ground.
Is Newcastle v Nottingham Forest on TV?
Luckily for supporters, the game is set to be broadcasted live on SkySports Main Event, with coverage set to start from 7pm BST. SkySports subscribers can stream the tie via Sky Go.
Team news
Newcastle’s clash with Forest may see the long-awaited return of Sandro Tonali following the end of his ban from football.
The Italian has not featured since October 2023 and will be a welcome addition to Eddie Howe’s midfield roster. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Tonali receive a standing ovation from the travelling Toon supporters.
Kieran Trippier is likely to start having started on the bench for Newcastle’s opening two Premier League fixtures. The England international made a positive impact off the subs bench against Bournemouth so it will be no surprise to see him replace Tino Livramento against Forest.
There may also be a few changes in the final third with new signing William Osula potentially set to make his competitive debut for the Magpies, meanwhile, Harvey Barnes may start after impressing fans on Sunday.
