Newcastle United resume their Premier League campaign with a trip to face Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
The Tyneside club entered the international break in fifth position after going unbeaten in their opening three league fixtures.
A 2-1 win over top-four rivals Tottenham helped to lift the mood around the club after an underwhelming summer transfer window, and Eddie Howe will hope his side can kick on when club football resumes this weekend.
A trip to the Molineux Stadium is up next for Newcastle, and Gary O’Neil’s side currently sit in the relegation zone after picking up just one point from their opening three games.
Wolves have only played once at home in the league this season and it ended in disaster with Chelsea thumping them 6-2. Newcastle will hope for a similar result on Sunday, but a glance at their last five trips to Wolves shows it hasn’t been the happiest of hunting grounds for the Magpies.

Callum Wilson was at the double for Newcastle with two first-half goals, including a penalty on the stroke of half-time.
However, the hosts drew level after each of Wilson’s goals, first through Mario Lemina in the first half and then via Hwang Hee-Chan after the break.

Newcastle rescued a late point when the two sides met in the 22-23 season.
Bruno Lage’s side took the lead through Ruben Neves’ stunning strike and they were just moments away from taking all three points when Allan Saint-Maximin equalised in the dying moments.
The French winger struck a fierce volley in the 90th minute to snatch a point for the visitors.
It maintained Newcastle’s unbeaten start to the season ahead of their eventual top-four finish that season.

Wolves have only ever beaten Newcastle twice in the Premier League and one of their wins came back in 2021 when Steve Bruce was in charge of the side. Newcastle had failed to win any of the first seven games of the season.
Hwang Hee-Chan scored either side of Jeff Hendrick’s first-half goal to give the hosts a 2-1 win.
Newcastle fielded a defence of Federico Fernandez, Javi Manquillo, Ciaran Clark and Isaac Hayden on the day. It’s a miracle they only scored twice.

However, Leander Dendoncker drew the hosts level with a close-range finish and Bruce’s side held out for a point.
