Newcastle earned a much needed victory against Fulham on Saturday evening and Harvey Barnes was quick to message Sean Longstaff on Instagram after his goal.

The midfielder has score some pretty important efforts during his time in the first team with the one against PSG the most obvious highlight.

After scoring against the Cottagers to secure an FA Cup fourth round victory, Longstaff took to Instagram to celebrate where Barnes responded with a pretty hilarious message.

Longstaff helps Newcastle get back to winning ways

Newcastle were nowhere near their best against Fulham, especially in the first half, but playing below their standards and still coming away with the win is something that we haven’t really seen this season.

Typically this team have either looked like they could have taken on prime Barcelona or struggled against League Two opposition, it’s been a pretty strange ride for supporters so far.

Having lost eight of their last 10 coming into this it was so important not just for the team but for Eddie Howe to get a win and ease the pressure off of him from them media.

It was Longstaff who gave Newcastle the lead after Fulham failed to clear the ball from their own box and it eventually fell to the 26-year-old who fired brilliantly into the ground and into the back of the net.

Barnes sends Longstaff hilarious Instagram message

Following what was their second victory against Fulham in just over a month, Longstaff posted on Instagram to celebrate getting into the fifth round for only the second time in 16 years.

On the social media platform, Longstaff posted a picture of him celebrating his goal with the caption: “Next round @emiratesfacup”.

This prompted a number of responses from his teammates, but the best one came from Barnes who messaged: “Tommy would be proud tonight”.

Tommy is Longstaff’s cat and the whole team had actually done something similar for the academy graduate when he scored his goal against PSG, though now it was just Barnes posting the message.
