In quotes relayed by The Chronicle, Barnes said when asked if he’s worth the money: “I assume so!”
Little reason to worry on the recruitment front for Newcastle
When Newcastle have signed players during the post-takeover era, it has tended to work.
While that does not guarantee instant success going forward, it is certainly a good omen.
Indeed, it won’t exactly take much for Barnes to improve on the man he’s replacing in terms of goal return. Allan Saint-Maximin bagged only once last season and five times the season before.
Even while being relegated at Leicester, Barnes managed to reach a respectable haul of 13.
For under £40m, that kind of return would be something of a bargain.
