Graeme Jones helped turn things around for Newcastle, and now he is playing a pivotal role for England at Euro 2020.

The 51-year-old has had a 2021 to remember so far.

He joined Newcastle’s coaching staff in January, a move that caused quite a stir.

There were rumours that he could replace Steve Bruce if the manager was sacked.

Instead, Jones played an important role in helping Newcastle climb the table and away from the relegation zone.

His stock has risen dramatically, and now he is getting international recognition.

While the Newcastle players are beginning pre-season, Jones has had no time off.

That’s because he is part of Gareth Southgate’s setup for England at Euro 2020.

It’s been a tournament to remember for the Three Lions, who take on Denmark in the semi-finals tonight.

Why Graeme Jones is so popular at Newcastle and for England at Euro 2020

According to the Athletic, the Newcastle players love Jones.

That’s because he works on the finer details of the game, as well as his one-on-one pieces of advice.

And the praise for Jones appears to have spread to the England camp.

The Athletic state that Jones is a popular member of the Three Lions setup, and he has became an influential figure in the tactical changes England have implemented.

Jones has reportedly helped work on the set pieces, which helped Southgate’s side reach the final four. England’s second against Ukraine came from a free kick, with Luke Shaw picking out Harry Maguire expertly.

But how much longer will Jones be with England? Will their journey end tonight? Or will Jones and co get the chance to bring football home on Sunday against Italy?
