Eddie Howe has confirmed the extent of the injuries that both Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento have suffered ahead of Newcastle United’s Premier League clash with Arsenal.
On Saturday, Newcastle United travel to Arsenal in the Premier League, looking to claim a morale-boosting victory at long last.
How many more points will Newcastle United get this season? 👀
Personally, I'm not confident of getting a single one 😂
They will have to do so, however, without either of Gordon or Livramento.
The winger suffered a hip injury that ruled him out of last weekend’s defeat to Bournemouth.
The defender, meanwhile, came off during that game with a groin problem.
Gordon and Livramento out of Arsenal vs Newcastle United
Asked about the pair during Friday’s pre-match press conference, Howe said of Livramento: “With Tino, he went for a scan initially. We don’t think it’s a bad injury, we’ll wait and see if he plays again this season.”
When asked about Gordon, he added: “Anthony won’t make the game. Hasn’t trained this week. Again, not a serious injury.”
Both players will be aiming to return in time to build up their fitness ahead of England’s World Cup campaign later this summer.
Elsewhere, Fabian Schar is out and Emil Krafth is unlikely to play again this season following knee surgery earlier this year.
Joelinton will also serve the final game of the two-match suspension he received for accumulating ten yellow cards.
How sweet would it be to dent Arsenal’s title hopes? 😍😍😍
Haven't got much faith, mind 😪
Potential replacements for Gordon and Livramento
Harvey Barnes started against Bournemouth last time out on the left, while William Osula continued in the central striker role that Gordon has sometimes played this season.

As it stands, both of those look likely to continue in Newcastle’s starting lineup. Osula simply looks like a much better fit than either Yoane Wissa or Nick Woltemade right now.
For Livramento, Kieran Trippier is an obvious replacement. The veteran is set to leave Newcastle this summer upon the expiration of his contract but remains a reliable option.
