If reports in Germany are to be believed, Lucien Favre is the new favourite for the Newcastle United job.
The 63-year-old has been mentioned a lot ever since the prospect of a new manager emerged on Tyneside following the club’s shocking takeover.
Since then, there hasn’t been too much chat surrounding Favre. There was some worry when reports resurfaced regarding a previous bust-up with Allan Saint-Maximin, but the the Frenchman quickly put those stories to bed.

Since then, Paulo Fonseca has seemingly been the frontrunner to replace Bruce.
However, Bild believe that’s not the case.
Lucien Favre is reportedly the favourite now
According to Bild, Favre is the favourite to get the Newcastle job.
They state that Fonseca is actually second choice, despite all the talk in the media being about the 48-year-old.

Bild add that a decision could be made next week.
Would Favre be a better choice than Fonseca? He certainly has a lot more experience.
But neither have managed in England despite their best efforts. Fonseca nearly got the Tottenham job this summer, while Favre pulled out of the race to join Crystal Palace.
Based on those rumours, Fonseca would be the better manager due to being linked with a bigger club.

But Favre plays attacking football too which would impress fans, and he’s known for his ability to develop young players and help them improve.
That’s a key attribute, as so many Toon players stagnated under Bruce.
If reports in Germany are accurate then Favre would be an exciting appointment. Then again, the same outlet said earlier in the year that Jetro Willems was on his way back to St James’ Park, so don’t lump all your money on the former Borussia Dortmund boss!
