Newcastle United fans on Twitter are raving over U23 star Elliot Anderson.
The midfielder certainly impressed for the youth outfit on Tuesday night, netting two goals, including an incredible first-time volleyed chip over the goalkeeper from outside of the box.
Anderson certainly looks like one of the brightest prospects in the Magpies’ academy, and his brace on Tuesday has had fans talking about him.
Some wanted to see him in the first team sooner rather than later, while others claimed he is a star of the future.
Steve Bruce has been reluctant to give the U23s much of a chance in the first-team during his tenure at the Magpies, with few young stars breaking through, unless their surname is Longstaff, but it may be time for Anderson to get a go.
The fact that he’s scored four goals in four games in PL2 so far this season certainly bodes well for his first-team chances, but whether or not Bruce calls him up the 18-year-old to the first-team remains to be seen.
Fingers crossed the youngsters development can continue and he can become a star at St James’ Park in the years to come.
He certainly looks like a prospect, and if the Magpies play their cards right, he could be a real asset going forward.
