BBC pundit Garth Crooks has named his latest Premier League Team of the Week, and there is not a single representative for Newcastle United.

The Magpies put in a fantastic performance full of heart and fighting spirit against Liverpool at Anfield, and came away with a hard-earned point.

Joe Willock was the man to make headlines once again, as he cropped up at the death to dent the Reds’ top-four hopes and further boost the Magpies’ chances of survival with a 1-1 draw.

There were lots of brilliant individual showings for the visitors – Allan Saint-Maximin was once again in fine fettle.

But the standout was probably Martin Dubravka, who was at the top of his game on Merseyside and made several key saves from the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota to keep Newcastle in the game.

He was outstanding between the sticks, but there was no acknowledgment from Crooks, who plumped for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in his latest Team of the Week instead.

The England number one did have a good game for the Toffees as they kept a clean sheet against Arsenal on Friday.

Sofascore statistics indicate Pickford made three saves, two of which came from inside the box.

Dubravka was much busier against Liverpool, making eight saves with five of the shots he faced coming from inside the box.

Although Willock got the all-important goal, the Slovakia international was undoubtedly a major reason for Newcastle coming away with a point – one which is huge for the team as the season’s end draws nearer.

His snub is inexplicable, and it’s clear he still doesn’t quite get the recognition he deserves.
