Newcastle United have so many injuries right now, and are desperate to get players back fit ahead of a busy winter.

After the international break, Newcastle will be playing twice a week until the end of the year, as they continue to compete in the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup.

Eddie Howe‘s squad is already massively stretched, which is why he is so desperate to get some players back from injury.

There has been some positive news, with Alexander Isak hoping to be involved against Chelsea on November 25th. We also have Harvey Barnes nearing a return to training, while it is hoped that Sven Botman will be back soon after the international break.

However, there is less positive news regarding Newcastle midfielder Elliot Anderson.

Newcastle ace Elliot Anderson could now be out until 2024 with injury

According to the Northern Echo, Elliot Anderson could be out of action ‘well into the new year’ with a back injury.

That is longer than his initial diagnosis suggested, with Eddie Howe confirming Anderson’s injury back in late October.

The 21-year-old has not played since the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on October 21st, with Howe stating that he could be out for up to eight weeks. That kind of layoff would mean Anderson would return in December, but this update from the Northern Echo suggests that he will actually be injured for longer than anticipated.

After confirming the injury, Howe stated that Anderson was very ‘frustrated’. The injury came at a time when he was really solidifying himself as a key player at St James’ Park. He had started four Premier League games, while he had featured in every match up until he suffered his injury.

Now he will be even more frustrated if he is not able to return until 2024.
