The Newcastle takeover saga could come to an end today if you believe everything you read on social media.
Twitter was a hotbed of activity last night, with wild claims that there would be potentially positive takeover news within the next 24 hours. This came on the same day that the Bin Zayed Group released their latest statement via a radio DJ on Twitter.
So which reputable source made the claims about an imminent takeover update? Well, do you remember Greg from the first series of Geordie Shore? And you know the guy that sometimes cuts the players’ hair? Aye, them.

The Newcastle takeover saga is the gift that just keeps on giving. We’ve had people tracking planes. We’ve learned all about Companies House documents, sort of. There are more ITKs than there’s ever been. BZG have made claims that have been disputed by local journalists. Everyone is arguing with each other. It’s a mess.
While fans try and get to the bottom of what is happening, the fact remains that the club are closing in on the new Premier League season with no manager and no new players.
We head to China for a pre-season tour soon. As things stand, the plane taking the players and staff will be half full.
Will a takeover have happened by then? Nobody knows. Lots of people think they know. Should we believe those people? No.
Until the club say otherwise, Mike Ashley is still the owner of Newcastle United.
