Whilst Newcastle United’s inability to convert chances continues to be a talking point in Premier League matches.

A former Magpies striker is having no issue at all finding the back of net back in his homeland.

Yoshinori Muto, who left Tyneside in the summer, looks to be enjoying his football once again and is doing what Newcastle had hoped he would have done in the Premier League.

The Japanese international now has three goals in his last three games for Vissel Kobe.

In seven J-League matches this season, Muto has only failed to directly contribute to a goal in one match.

Alongside his three goals, the 29-year-old has three assists to his name.

Muto’s latest goal game in a 5-1 win against Urawa Red Diamonds at the weekend.

The Japanese international scored a glancing header to put his side 4-1 up thanks to an Andres Iniesta cross.

His clever movement in the penalty area was picked out by the great Spaniard and his header left the rooted goalkeeper with no chance.

Iniesta finished the game with two goals and the assist for Muto, maybe that was the former Newcastle striker’s problem at St. James’ Park he didn’t have Iniesta supplying him.

Muto is now playing alongside a number of former Barcelona players. As well as Iniesta, the Japanese international’s teammates include Thomas Vermaelen, Sergi Samper and Bojan Krkic who scored Vissel Kobe’s fifth.

The 5-1 win ensured Vissel Kobe got back to winning ways after losing 3-1 to Kawasaki Frontale in a game where Muto opened the scoring.

Iniesta played a lovely ball over the top into Yuya Osako, who picked out Muto’s run and he tapped the ball home.

Muto is thriving in Japan and looks to have overcome a difficult chapter in Newcastle whilst his former club wonder what might have been if he had shown his current form in England.
