Former Newcastle United striker Joselu has surprisingly received a nomination for FIFA 21’s Team of the Year.
The Spaniard has somehow managed to score a big acknowledgment from the popular video game franchise, despite not pulling up any trees for Deportivo Alaves.

Players have the chance to vote for the 11 best players in the past 12 months of football over at EA Sports, with the final Team of the Year to be announced later this month.
The selected 11 players then receive special cards in the game’s Ultimate Team mode for players to try and pack.
Joselu is included in this year’s bunch of nominees, rubbing shoulders with superstar forwards such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Joao Felix, Harry Kane, Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, Neymar and Lionel Messi.
Joselu left Newcastle last summer to join Alaves in a deal reportedly worth around £2.5 million (Chronicle Live), after a pretty disastrous couple of years at St. James’ Park.
In 52 appearances for the Magpies he scored just five goals, and few would prefer to forget his stint ever happened.
Joselu did make an impact for Alaves last term, scoring 11 goals in all competitions on loan.
But in the actual calendar year 2020, which is what EA looks at to decide their nominations, he only managed six goals, making his status as a FIFA 21 TOTY nominee very perplexing indeed.
