Ever wanted to own a part of Newcastle United? Now you have the chance.

The Newcastle United Supporters Trust have unveiled a huge plan to purchase a stake in the club should they be taken over. It will be called the ‘1892 Pledge’.

They intend to raise a minimum of £3million, with the intentions of owning at least 1% of Newcastle United.

However, they are not looking to buy out Mike Ashley. This would only come to fruition if there was a takeover.

The NUST would look to work alongside new owners, with their investment allowing them to have a say in how the club is run.

If the appeal is unsuccessful, all money raised will be donated to north east charities.

It seems like a ‘no lose’ situation. It can either end with the fans having a stake in the club when it is taken over, or charities in the local area benefitting from a large sum of money.

There has been a huge response to the announcement on Twitter. While some people are sceptical, the majority of Toon fans are buzzing about the prospect of owning a part of their club.

It is a wonderful initiative by NUST, and one you can get behind.

There is no timescale on the 1892 Pledge. This is a long-term project that has been in the works since 2018.

This is a chance to make a difference. Most Newcastle fans want to see the back of Ashley, and the 1892 Pledge can ensure we have a say in the future of the club.

The majority of fans are behind the project, and rightfully so.
