New Newcastle owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi were present during yesterday’s training session.

The pair met the players and manager Steve Bruce for the first time, as they get their feet under the table at their new club.

It will no doubt have been an eye-opening visit for Staveley, who has already described the training ground as ‘awful’.

Her husband was quick to show off his skills with a ball at his feet, although it seems unlikely that he’ll be involved on Sunday… Then again, stranger things have happened. This time last week there was no hope from fans of a takeover happening.

The club have released an official video of Monday’s training session, with the players being put through their paces while Staveley and Ghodoussi watch on.

And eagle-eyed supporters have noticed a very small but potentially telling detail – you don’t see Steve Bruce once.

Throughout the whole video, which is on the club’s official YouTube Channel, you never see the current Newcastle United manager.

Supporters think this is a sign that Bruce is leaving. The 60-year-old is reportedly expected to lose his job before the Tottenham game on Sunday, with Graeme Jones taking charge.

However, Bruce is still Newcastle manager as it stands. Change feels inevitable, but it is still yet to come.

Regardless, Toon fans think the manager’s absence in the training video suggests he will be on his way out soon.
