Newcastle United are, as usual, biding their time in the transfer market to make sure they get the right deal, however their top priority right now is tying up a new deal for Bruno Guimaraes.
Bruno Guimaraes is arguably Newcastle‘s most important player and as such is in-line for a huge pay rise that will see him become Newcastle’s all-time highest earner.
The deal on the table is said to be for £200,000-a-week which also suggests that the club has almost doubled their previous wage cap in order to make this work.
Newcastle want to tie up the deal for Guimaraes ASAP
Now Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that the club see a deal for their ‘magnificent‘ midfielder as a priority, saying: “Newcastle consider Bruno Guimarães’ contract extension as priority. Talks took place recently and will continue in the next weeks.
Magpies, insisting to get new deal done with huge salary increase for Bruno.”
This tweet comes off the back of a ridiculous rumour claiming Newcastle have offered €30million (£26million) plus Guimaraes for Barcelona‘s Raphinha. An absolutely laughable notion. Even if it was Barca who offered us £26million plus Raphinha for Bruno it would be hilarious.
Thankfully, I think we can rely on Fabrizio Romano a lot more than whatever account started off that Barcelona thing – I refuse to dignify the rumour with a link, but it’s on Twitter if you absolutely must see it with your own eyes.
Bruno is currently away on international duty with Brazil with newly capped Joelinton and will no doubt be hoping he will get to share the pitch with this club mate when they take on Sengal tomorrow evening.
The new deal shows Bruno that the club matches his ambition
Ensuring we tie down Bruno to a bigger deal doesn’t necessarily stop him from leaving as football contracts aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on, but it does show our commitment to him and how much we want to keep him at Newcastle.
It shows that the club matches his ambition and it’s also like a huge thank you to him for being such an important figure in our upturn in fortunes.
