There is huge excitement about Newcastle United’s Yankuba Minteh.
The Gambian winger is thrilling on loan with Feyenoord this season and bagged a brace in their famous 6-0 drubbing of bitter rivals Ajax on Sunday.
Minteh’s tally for the season now stands at nine goals and four assists in just 14 Eredivisie starts, which is a pretty remarkable total for a player only making his way in a top European league.
Newcastle still plan to assess the winger when he returns to St James’ Park this summer to judge whether or not he is ready for life in the Premier League.
They are keeping a close eye on his development for the Dutch club and he’s not the only Feyenoord star to have caught attention.
Geordie Boot Boys understands teammates Lutsharel Geertruida, Quinten Timber and Santiago Gimenez were all scouted in the win over Ajax too.
Minteh is clearly making a big impact there this season and has seemingly left an impact on those playing with him.

Speaking about Minteh’s ability to Dutch outlet AD, he said: “Yankuba keeps going. He has so much power and speed. An exceptional talent in an exceptionally strong phase of his career.”

If Newcastle decide Minteh is indeed ready for life in the Premier League, a starting spot could be opening up in Eddie Howe’s squad.
Minteh has largely operated on the right side of the attack this season, the position Miguel Almiron largely operates in.
Almiron, however, has been tipped to leave the club this summer as Newcastle plot a rebuild ahead of next season.
If Minteh can impress those at Newcastle upon his return, perhaps he can act as Almiron’s long-term heir.
He’s certainly in the kind of form that will help that process.
