Aleksandar Mitrovic has been relegated from the Premier League twice in his career.
However, he might get a third crack at the top flight next season with a third club. According to Sky Sports, Everton are ‘very interested’ in bringing the striker to Goodison Park from Fulham.
The Toffees may face competition, with the Evening Standard reporting earlier in the week that West Ham are also keen.
If Mitrovic does leave Fulham this summer, that means he’ll get another chance to label another set of supporters as ‘the best’.
Newcastle got it right with Mitrovic
To be fair to the 24-year-old, his first 12 months in a Fulham shirt were exceptional. His form in the Championship was incredible, at a time when Newcastle were struggling in front of goal.
His loan move became permanent last summer and Mitrovic continued his good form, scoring Premier League goals at a rate we never saw at Newcastle.
He ended the season with 11 Premier League goals, the same amount as Salomon Rondon. But Mitrovic’s influence waned as the season went on, while Rondon became more and more important to the Magpies.
It’s understandable why fans love Mitrovic. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he’s the kind of player you can’t help but root for.
But at the end of the day, you’re judged on results.
The forward has been relegated from the top flight with Newcastle and Fulham, will he make it a hat-trick? Everton and West Ham, beware…
