Former Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong is reportedly being lined up by two Premier League clubs.
The Sun are reporting that Everton and West Ham United are looking at the Championship star, who has hit 17 goals for far this season for Blackburn Rovers.
It’s explained that the Hammers are particularly keen having sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax during the last transfer window.
Blackburn would apparently be looking for around £10 million to sell, if they don’t achieve promotion to the Premier League themselves.
Armstrong’s haul of 17 goals places him second in the scoring charts, with only Brentford’s Ivan Toney – another former Newcastle player – ahead of him with 22 strikes.
Armstrong departed Newcastle in January 2018, after failing to make the grade at St. James’ Park.
He made just 21 first-team appearances for the club and after a number of loan moves, signed for Rovers for a fee Sky Sports reported was worth £3 million in total.
Armstrong form uncomfortable viewing
Armstrong is certainly starting to become uncomfortable viewing from a Newcastle standpoint.
The club were comfortable in letting him go, but he’s now starting to prove himself as a reliable goalscorer.
The Championship may not be the Premier League, but the links to other Premier League clubs now suggests he could be ready to make the step up after gaining valuable experience.
Newcastle have been reliant on Callum Wilson this season, and one wonders if the club could do worse than to target the ex-Magpie for a return in the summer.
