Newcastle United already have two representatives in the Premier League Hall of Fame, and there could be more added in 2025.

The Premier League began its Hall of Fame in 2021 to honour and celebrate the incredible achievements of the massive legends and personalities that made it the most popular league in the world.

The hall opened its (online) doors with eight inaugural inductees and has seen its ranks grow to 24 in the years since, with 22 former players and two managers. No surprise that they are Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.

There is no physical Hall of Fame, but inductees are awarded an engraved medallion at a formal induction ceremony.

Newcastle United have two representatives in the Premier League Hall of Fame

Other than a handful of seasons when they were in the second tier, Newcastle United have been a huge part of the Premier League over the last 33 years.

However, the criteria to make it into the Hall of Fame are very high, making it difficult for a team that has never won the Premier League to have much of a presence.

To be eligible, a former player must either have played 250 games in the Premier League or achieved one of the following:

Though difficult for Newcastle players to make the cut as they’ve never won the trophy, it’s certainly not impossible.

Alan Shearer

The first inductee into the Premier League’s Hall of Fame couldn’t be a bigger Newcastle legend.

Alan Shearer remains the division’s record goalscorer with a remarkable 260 goals and won the league with Blackburn Rovers.

Shearer remains among the best players the Premier League has ever seen and was a fitting entrant when it opened in 2021.

Andy Cole

A striker who was also incredible at St. James’ Park but isn’t remembered quite as fondly is Andy Cole.

Cole was scintillating in Kevin Keegan’s Entertainers side, scoring a sensational 68 goals in just 84 games and winning the hearts of every Newcastle fan.

However, he broke all those hearts when he suddenly moved to Manchester United after two years in a £6m transfer.

Cole scored 187 Premier League goals over his career and was inducted in 2024.

2025 Candidates to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame

Only two legends will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2025 out of a 15-man shortlist.

Fans have already cast their votes on who should get the honour, but the other 24 inductees will also give their own votes to determine who joins them.

Newcastle have three former players who could enter the HoF and fans will no doubt be hoping the beloved Les Ferdinand is inducted.

Sol Campbell made a handful of appearances for the club towards the end of his glittering career, while Michael Owen scored 30 goals in 79 games during an underwhelming four-year stay on Tyneside.
