Emil Krafth is Newcastle United’s unsung hero.
That’s the view of multiple Toon players, who were asked for their choice by the Magpies’ inhouse media.
The club have released a video on their official YouTube channel asking all of the Newcastle players to pick their unsung star of the season. And, unsurprisingly, most have named our super Swede.
He would probably be our pick, thriving in 2022 following Kieran Trippier’s injury.

There was limited faith in his ability from supporters. When Trippier was ruled out and Javi Manquillo picked up an injury too, panic set in for the Toon Army.
But Krafth stood up and delivered, becoming the latest player to enjoy an Eddie Howe inspired renaissance.
Emil Krafth doesn’t get ‘enough credit’ according to Sean Longstaff
Sean Longstaff was one of multiple Toon players to pick Krafth, and spoke about his resurgence since the turn of the year.

“How well he’s played in the second half of the season – he’s been one of our top three players every single game,” Longstaff said.
“I don’t think Emil gets enough credit for how good he is and how good he’s been, especially when Tripps got injured.”
Longstaff is spot on
Longstaff’s assessment is very fair. As we previously said, there was huge worry from fans when he was our only fit right-back.
A string of solid performances later and Manquillo couldn’t get in the team, while there was no desperation for Trippier to return.

Krafth has been immensely solid in recent months. It’s probably the first time in his Newcastle career that he’s felt the love from supporters.
He’s really turned public opinion around, and fans will be keen to see him stay at St James’ Park this summer.
The 27-year-old is the perfect understudy to Trippier, who will of course be our first choice right-back next season. But if he does suffer from injury again, Krafth will be waiting in reserve. Only this time fans will be delighted to see him in the side rather than watching on with fear.
Krafth deserves more credit, and he’s certainly getting it now.
