Miguel Almiron will be hoping his spell in the Newcastle United team continues tonight against Crystal Palace.
Injury to Ryan Fraser has handed the Paraguayan an opportunity, and it’s one he’s taking with both hands.
Miggy was brilliant off the bench in the 1-0 win over Wolves, linking up brilliantly with Bruno Guimaraes and causing plenty of problems for Bruno Lage’s defence.
His performance against Wolves won him a start against Leicester, and once again he ran his little socks off. Almiron’s pressing was excellent on Sunday afternoon, forcing the referee to dish out a yellow card within the first minute for a foul by Daniel Amartey.
While he could have been better in possession, Almiron proved once again why he’s so loved by fans. His work rate is infectious, and it was great to see his smile back at full time as he wandered around St James’ Park with a flag.
It wasn’t a perfect performance from Almiron, who was substituted with 20 minutes to go. However, Eddie Howe must stick with the 28-year-old against Crystal Palace.

Howe does have one option in reserve. He could turn to Jacob Murphy, who featured a lot during our impressive unbeaten run earlier in the year.
It seemed to say a lot about Almiron that Howe picked the 27-year-old ahead of him, but now it’s the £21million man who is getting the nod.
With fixtures coming thick and fast, the manager might be pondering a change or two to his starting XI. But Almiron deserves to keep his place in the side.
He’s finally starting to look confident again, having endured a bit of a torrid season. Putting him back on the bench could prove to be a real setback.
Almiron needs a proper run in the starting XI. Fraser’s injury has given him the opportunity he needs, and he deserves more minutes to prove why he still as a role to play at Newcastle United.
